I’m Mark Van Wijk – cinematographer, director, and editor with a passion for capturing stories that matter. My work takes me across roads, oceans, skies, and into some of the most remote corners of the world, where adaptability and creativity are essential.

With an editor’s eye behind the camera, I anticipate the shots that build strong sequences – ensuring efficiency in the field and flow in post-production. Across Africa and beyond, I’ve navigated remote terrains, shifting weather, and diverse cultures with respect and adaptability.
I thrive on problem-solving in the field, overcoming logistical and environmental challenges, always finding a way to bring the story home.

  • A natural progression started when I began using video as my photographic medium. I soon began producing promotional video’s for adventure companies and Tour operators and assisting DP’s on corporate and commercial productions. I then began editing my own work and launched MVW productions. At the same time I became a freelance cameraman which led to freelance work as a DP.

1996 – 2000

  • After specialising in Travel Photography, I travelled extensively with my camera for 4 years. Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, England, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Cook Islands, Hawaii, USA.
